I encourage you to scribble down a list of things you are good at.

I promise you’ll think of things — you might be pleasantly surprised and entertained. And you just might be able to start challenging your daily criticisms with a few compliments… wouldn’t that be nice?

Which list is easier to write? Your strengths or your weaknesses?

Let’s be honest, I made them both at the same time. (Or did I?)

Some things I’m good at are things I’m highly skilled at that I also deem as a waste of my time or a negative behaviour. But that doesn’t diminish my skill in the area.

If you are comfortable, share your list with us below or by a video introducing yourself and telling us what you may have discovered for yourself.  You may, once you start, recognise that you are good at many things.

  1. Think about what skills have helped you thrive in your education, work and volunteer experiences.
  2. Consider which activities or skills make you feel empowered.
  3. What comes to you naturally?
  4. Take note of your favourite hobbies and how you spend your free time.
  5. What were you good at as a child?
  6. Ask other people what they think you are good at!

“When we build on our strengths and daily successes — instead of focusing on failures — we simply learn more.”
